In person at the Portuguese Embassy consular section or consulate, with an online appointment booked on the Foreign Ministry's scheduling platform.

Step by step

  1. Make sure your Citizen Card (Cartão de Cidadão) or Identity Card is valid. If it has expired, renew it first.
  2. Book an appointment on agendamentos.mne.gov.pt.
  3. Attend in person with your documents. For a child, both parents and the child attend, or the legal custodian with a current custody order.
  4. Pay the fee in cash or by money order.
  5. Collect the passport at the consulate, or choose delivery to your home for a higher fee.
