ConsulateOffices (consulateoffices.com) is an independent website about foreign consulates and embassy consular sections in the United States. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens with your data when you use it. It describes what the site actually does; it is not copied from another site.
Who runs the site
The site is edited by Agustín Mendez, based in Pinamar, Argentina, who decides how it works and is responsible for the data described here. It is not an official website and has no relationship with any embassy, consulate, foreign government or the U.S. Department of State. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- No accounts. There is no registration, login or newsletter, and no payment of any kind.
- Searches stay in your browser. The search box and filters work inside the page. What you type is not sent to us.
- Location only if you ask. If you press the button to use your location, your browser asks for permission and then gives your position to the page so it can sort results by distance. The calculation happens on your device; your location is not sent to us or stored.
- Email, if you write to us. If you email us, we receive your address and your message. We use them only to reply and, if you report an error, to correct the page. We keep the email in our mailbox for as long as it is useful for that and we never sell or share it.
- Technical logs. Like any web server, the server that delivers the pages records technical data for each request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser). These logs are used only for security and to keep the site working.
Services from other companies
Some parts of the pages load from other companies. When that happens your browser connects to them directly, and they receive at least your IP address:
- Google Maps: the map frame loads on pages that show a map. Google receives your IP address and the place shown, and may set its own cookies under the Google privacy policy. Links that say "directions" open Google Maps in the same tab.
- Cloudflare: visits pass through Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site. It processes your IP address and request details and, when it needs to check that a visit is not automated, may set a strictly necessary security cookie. Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google AdSense: the site may show ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are shown, Google uses cookies and similar technologies as described below. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising
If ads are shown on this site, they will be served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, measure them and limit how often you see the same one. If personalized ads are on, Google may use your visits to this and other sites to choose ads. You can turn personalized ads off in My Ad Center (also reachable through Google Ads Settings). Details: how Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google requires that personalized ads be shown only with consent collected through a certified consent tool. Without that consent, Google shows only non-personalized or limited ads. This site does not run a cookie banner of its own.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself does not set cookies. The site itself does not use local storage either. Cookies from Google (ads and, if shown, maps) and Cloudflare are listed with their purpose in our cookie policy, together with how to block or delete them.
Your rights
Several U.S. states, including California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and others, give residents rights over their personal information: to know what is collected, to get a copy, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or of targeted advertising. We do not sell the emails or any other information we receive. Advertising cookies, when ads are shown, are placed by Google and may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out of that with the tools on our cookie policy page.
In practice, the only personal data we may hold about you is an email you sent us. Write to [email protected] to ask for a copy or to have it deleted and we will do it. For data processed by Google, use the tools linked above.
Children
The site is meant for adults dealing with foreign consulates and embassy consular sections in the United States. It is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If the site starts doing something new with data (for example, adding a form or a different ad provider), this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. See also the terms of use, the about page and the contact page.
